Eye Movement, Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
The emotions and psychological effects that follow exposure to a traumatic event may be difficult to alleviate. Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) has been said to be one of the most effective and successful ways to overcome the symptoms and pathology that may have developed over the years. Our therapists at The Antioch Group have used EMDR in both children and adults to accelerate the therapy process for incidents such as:
- Sexual Abuse
- Physical Abuse
- Serious Accidents
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Anxiety Disorders
EMDR is a unique information processing technique that uses both internal and external stimulation such as eye movements, tapping, etc. to process difficult memories in a healthy way. Our therapists are highly trained to use this treatment, which helps individuals to replace negative thoughts with positive ones. EMDR tends to require fewer sessions than other treatments. Emotional pain does not have to be permanent…call us today to begin your journey toward healing!
