Mr. Hanson completed his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Counseling Psychology at Illinois State University. He is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a National Board Certified Counselor. He is also nationally certified as a Dialectical Behavior Therapist.

For over thirty years, Mr. Hanson has practiced outpatient mental health counseling and held administrative positions in central Illinois in social service and private settings. He is experienced working with children, adolescents, and adults in individual, family, couples, and group therapy settings. Some of his areas of interest include disruptive and behavior disorders, adjustment and mood disorders, abuse and trauma, bonding and attachment, and issues affecting marital and family relationships. He has extensive training and experience in family therapy, play therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and EMDR.

Mr. Hanson and his wife, Chris, have three children, Elizabeth, Adam, and Zachary. They attend Advent Lutheran Church in Morton.
